Indictable offence means a serious offence for which punishment exceeds two years' imprisonment e.g. stealing. In the United States, a crime of similar severity and rules is called a felony, which also requires an indictment. In United States penal law, other than a felony, court findings of, or an act of gross negligence can be counted as an indictable offence.
