An easement simply connotes a legal right to use another person's portion of land as a means of access to one's own property or to lay sewage or water pipes through another's land. This is usually done with a spirit of good neighborliness in order to promote everyone's enjoyment of his property, even though it is a right which may be enforced in a court of law, if necessary.
