The word "covenants" is often used to qualify terms in a land sale agreement and other documents having to do with the transfer of interest over land or landed property. These terms capture what parties to such documents may do or may not do, for example, a term placing an obligation on a seller of property to indemnify a buyer where a third party is challenging the rights of the buyer over the property.
