A bail bond represents a monetary pledge which a surety makes in court in order to secure the bail of a suspect. Where the suspect is released on bail and he fails to attend court subsequently, the surety will have to pay the physical cash of the money pledged to the court and may also be detained until the suspect is found. If the suspect is later found, the surety will be released, while the suspect's bail would be cancelled.
